IBExU Institut für Sicherheitstechnik GmbH, as a research
institution, works by the order of companies and industry
associations, in public interest as well as in cooperation with
other institutions (as universities) in research and development
projects. This serves also the improvement of innovation and
effectiveness of the scientific-technical services. Main
emphasises of the research and development tasks:
- Prevention of fires and explosions as a cause of accidents
- Limiting of explosion impacts
- Safety characteristics of chemical substances under special
conditions

- Flame and pressure propagation before pressure-relief vents at
dust explosions
- Flame transmission safety of immersion arresters (experimental
investigations in full scale)
- Prevention and limitation of explosions and fires in machine
tools
- Development of a procedure for the determination of
explosion characteristics (explosion
limits, maximum explosion pressure, pressure increase, KG-value)
of mists/aerosols of combustible liquids
- Development of a procedure for the determination of
explosion limits of combustible liquids
under increased pressure and/or increased temperature
- Gas detonations in pipes
